Not ignorant enough

The first payout of the year was announced. She had done exceedingly well and she should be exultant.

But she wasn't.

Something was bothering. She wanted to, but could not talk to anyone who could advise her. So it became a burden, and like a growing tumor it invaded her living and breathing space. Had it only been a week? It seemed so much longer.
